Searching for the Words ......

Today you have a guest Blogger. The post will more poignant and certainly not as entertaining and witty as those in the past. How could it be? On Wednesday, June 8 at about 6:30AM, Wendy concluded her battle with cancer and succumbed to acute renal and liver failure. I have the pleasure of knowing many of Wendy's friends and blog followers. To those I have not yet contacted personally I apologize. There are sooooooooooooo many. I will keep trying. Please post your comments or questions to the blog. I will try to review them daily. At this time plans for a memorial celebration of her life have not been set. I will post information as it becomes available. The family and I ask, that in lieu of flowers or remembrance, donations be made to ECHO in her name. ECHO's work meant a lot to Wendy and as you know she is currently on their board. For those not familiar with ECHO you can learn more at the following: echonet.org ECHO 17391 Durrance Road North Fort Myers, FL 33917 tel 239.543.3246 Wendy was always in God's hands and in her way did God's work. We can all be assured she is still safely in His hands. Love you, Michael and Wendy

  1. Wendy will be greatly missed and this news saddens me terribly. We have yet to have the chance to meet, Michael, but Wendy always spoke of you so sweetly. I'm glad you could be by her side.

  3. Michael, Thank you so much for providing this post to the blog. While it is news that none of us wanted to hear and a message that must have been so difficult to write, I am sure that Wendy is so proud of you for keeping the faith online and letting all of her friends know what has happened.

Wendy was a truly unique individual who was incredibly positive, generous, loving, kind, smart, beautiful...ah, the glowing list goes on. She was a fully committed family member and steadfastly loyal friend who will indeed be greatly missed by many people. But what a privilege to have known her and to have seen what great contributions she made to this world.

Michael, please know that we are thinking of you and of her family at this sad, sad time but we know that you will soon be able to celebrate the beauty of her life in a way that would cause her to blush with modesty but would be so well deserved.

We love you, Alison and Randall Stocker

  4. Michael, Wendy was truly one of the best horticulture leaders I've know during my career at Disney. She was passionate about horticulture and the welfare of the animals she helped keep happy and healthy. She will be greatly missed through out the circles of Walt Disney horticulture. I will always be eternally greatfull to Wendy for giving me the the tools to thrive and grow and showing me her passion for ECHO. What a wounderful Pride she had in the magnificent theme park she helped create. She will e greatly missed! My prayers to you and the family.

  5. Michael - just wanted to thank you for sharing Wendy with us here at ECHO. She lived her life courageously, boldly, graciously, and with deep faith. She was always a tremendous example to all of us. We were grateful for her tender and sharing spirit and how she always seemed to find unique ways to reach out to various ones here. Her open invitation to the interns and others to come to Disney was always a blessing. Our family personally experienced her kindness many times by being invited to stay at her father's house, visit Disney, and speak at her church. Our hearts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with you knowing that you have lost such a wonderful and special life partner.

  6. The news was such a surprise ...... Wendy was a one in million friend to me but she was also my confidant, my hero, and my inspiration. I have spent the past two days pulling out photos taken through almost 40 years of friendship. The memories have been great comfort. I love you both - Please let us know what the thoughts are for a celebration/memorial.
